Hair Care Routine for Monsoon: Tips for Frizz & Hair Fall

2. Oiling: Yay or Nay During Monsoon?

Ah, the age-old question. Should you oil your hair in this weather?

The answer: Yes, but gently and smartly.

Oiling is still one of the best ways to nourish your scalp and strengthen your hair. But during monsoon, you’ll want to be a bit more careful. Go for light oils like coconut, almond, or even a bit of argan oil. And don’t leave it on overnight, a quick 30–60 minute pre-wash massage is plenty.

  • Avoid tying up wet hair – it can weaken your roots and lead to breakage or even infections. Let it dry first.

4. Go Easy on the Products

Monsoon isn’t the time for heavy-duty styling or chemical-laden products. In fact, your hair will thank you for keeping things simple.

Here’s what works best:

  • Switch to natural, sulphate-free shampoos – they cleanse without stripping your hair of natural oils.

  • Always condition – focus on the mid-lengths and ends. This helps keep frizz under control and adds softness.

  • Ditch the heat styling tools when you can – if you must use them, use a heat protectant and go for the lowest setting.

Also, be kind to your hair when drying it. Swap out rough towels for a soft t-shirt or microfibre towel. It reduces breakage and cuts down on frizz too.

5. A Few Little Extras That Make a Big Difference

Sometimes, it’s the small habits that go the longest way. Here are some quick tips that really do help:

  • Eat well and hydrate – your hair is what you eat. Include nuts, seeds, leafy greens, and loads of water.

  • Trim those ends – regular trims help prevent split ends and keep your hair looking healthy.

  • Cover up if you get caught in the rain – and if your hair does get soaked, wash it soon after. Rainwater can carry pollutants that aren’t great for your scalp.

  • Brush gently – wet hair is fragile, so use a wide-tooth comb and be gentle.
